OpTic Nation was a North American Call of Duty eSports sister team to OpTic Gaming which was formed in 2011. It disbanded after one event, reformed in 2014, and was disbanded again in 2015 after the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
History[]
Origins[]
April 2011 brought us to MLG Dallas 2011 where OpTic Gaming will place 3rd taking home $4,000 with the roster being BigTymeR, MerK, JKap and NaDeSHoT. NaDeSHoT and JKap replacing Rambo and ProoFy between the two events. The next event OpTic places well will be MLG Columbus 2011, but before we get to that event, OpTic Gaming does one of the first things to happen in competitive Call of Duty; a second team. This second team would consist of NaDeSHoT, ProoFy, Felonies and Option. Upon gaining a second team, both OpTic Gaming and OpTic Nation place respectively into top eight positions at MLG Columbus. After a 6th place placement at MLG Columbus, NaDeSHoT then up and leaves OpTic Nation to team with EnVyUs for the remaining of the Call of Duty: Black Ops season. After NaDeSHoT leaves, OpTic decides to part ways with OpTic Nation leaving only the OpTic Gaming.
The Return of OpTic Nation[]
After the 2014 Call of Duty Championships, OpTic made a huge announcement once again; the Return of OpTic Nation. This team consisted of MBoZe as captain with MiRx, KiLLa and Ricky underneath. At their first event, OpTic Nation would out place their sister team OpTic Gaming finishing UGC Niagara with a T4 placing. Nation would go on to a 1st Place finish in the MLG Anaheim Open Bracket to qualify for a spot in MLG CoD League Season 3.
OpTic Nation attended and competed at UMG Dallas and came home with an impressive 3rd place finish for $3,000, just above OpTic Gaming in 4th and Most Wanted in 5th. Nation then went onto UMG Nashville to try and get another win under the OpTic name in the penultimate North American event of Call of Duty: Ghosts. OpTic Nation, however, had an extremely poor weekend, finishing 13th-16th after going 0-3 in their group and losing to Aware Gaming in the second round of the Championship Losers bracket. This left them going an incredibly disappointing 1-4 on the weekend.
New Game, New Roster[]
As is customary, upon the release of a new title, RosterMania began. OpTic Nation was no exception to the wave of roster changes, initially with the departure of KiLLa and MiRx. A few days after, OpTic Nation announced their new roster for Advanced Warfare that consisted of MBoZe, ProoFy, TeePee and Karma. After a disappointing finish at MLG Columbus OpTic Nation captain MBoZe left the team but will remain apart of the OpTic organization while he looks for a team to move forward with. With the departure of MBoZe. OpTic Nation ended up picking up Swanny from the EU as their new fourth. UMG Orlando saw OpTic Nation finish with a disappointing top 12 placing. OpTic Nation would then continue to struggle in the MLG Advanced Warfare Season 1 League failing to qualify for the MLG Advanced Warfare Season 1 Playoffs and OpTic Nation with their newly formed roster of Swanny, Proofy, Karma and TeePee.
Disbandment[]
After the release of Black Ops 3, OpTic Nation had to disband due to only one team per organization able to be apart of the Call of Duty World League.
