London Royal Ravens is the official Call of Duty League franchise team of London, England. It is owned and operated by ReKTGlobal.
History[]
Modern Warfare[]
The franchise was officially announced on September 13, 2019. Over the next few days, the team announced their initial coaching staff of Dominate, ShAnE, and Joee. On September 17, they announced not only their first player signing but also the first player signing in the history of the franchise league, wuskin. wuskin's brother, Skrapz, and Dylan joined the team on September 20. Irish SMG Jurd joined as the first non-Britsh player on September 28. A day later, the organization became the second franchise team to complete it's starting roster, with Rated joining as their 5th. On October 15, the team became the first Call of Duty League team to reveal their official name and branding, the London Royal Ravens. Seany joined as substitute on November 3 followed by MadCat on November 7. On January 23, 2020, the Royal Ravens announced their academy team, Royal Ravens Academy, with MadCat and Seany joined by Weeman, Nolson, and Defrag.
At Launch Weekend, the Royal Ravens dominated New York Subliners only to get dominated in return by Paris Legion. Going into their homestand, the team had questions marks but were expected to perform in front of their legendary English crowd. The crowd delivered, but the Royal Ravens did not as they were eliminated by Dallas Empire in the semifinals after winning their group. In Week 3, London beat Florida but then lost Atlanta and then again in their Mutineers rematch to finish Top 6. Nastie had joined to replace Rated but moved to the bench due to not being able to stay in the United States. Seany then joined the starting lineup. After an extended break due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, London returned in Week 6 for their first matches in just over two months. Atlanta FaZe and Chicago Huntsmen were the Ravens two matches and both ended with loses and a last place finish in the Chicago home series.
In Week 7, the Royal Ravens defeated OpTic Gaming Los Angeles in round 1, then essentially forfeited map one of their Qualifier series against Atlanta FaZe when the London players stopped playing map 1 before it began because Skrapz was not at his setup when the map began. The Ravens went down over 100 points before beginning to actually play. They lost the series 3-1 and then fell 3-0 in their rematch against OGLA. Leading up to Week 8, Jurd was moved to the bench and replaced by former New York Subliners substitute Zer0. They reached the grand finals of the event, beating the Subliners and both LA teams before falling to Chicago 3-1. The Royal Ravens fell twice to Dallas Empire in Week 10 and failed to advance out of the group stage and repeated a similar result in Week 11 with another group stage exit. The Royal Ravens ended their season in Week 12. They beat Seattle Surge and Florida Mutineers to make it to the bracket stage again before falling to Paris Legion 3-2 in the semifinals. London finished the season with the 6th seed with 120 CDL Points.
London started the Call of Duty League Championship 2020 in Winners Round 1 where they lost to Toronto Ultra 1-3. They then went on a three match winning streak by eliminating Paris Legion, New York Subliners, and Toronto Ultra before losing to Chicago Huntsmen in Losers Round 5. They finished the event in fourth place.
Black Ops Cold War[]
Jurd was the first player to leave the team on September 1 with wuskin also leaving days later. Skrapz, Dylan, Zer0, Rated, MadCat, and Nastie were all released in the following week, with Seany the only remaining player. On October 29, the 2021 roster was announced with Dylan and Zer0 rejoining alongside Alexx. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, Zer0 was forced to play the Kickoff Classic from the United Kingdom. Parasite joined as a temporary substitute for him on February 9.
London failed to win any series during Stage 1, with just five total map wins across the five series. Going into the Stage 1 Major, things did not get any easier as Alexx returned back to the United Kingdom due to personal family matters. Zed joined the team to replace him for the event. But as expected, the team lost in their Losers Round 1 matchup against Toronto to finish Top 12. On March 15th, the Ravens dropped Parasite and added PaulEhx from WestR. Going into Stage 2, Zed made his joining permanent which finally game the Royal Ravens some roster stability. In the stage, London defeated both LA teams to finish with a 2-3 record. This left them in a three team tiebreaker that gave them a Losers Round 1 bye for the Stage 2 Major. The LA Thieves beat them in Game 5 and London was knocked out at Top 10.
Dylan was replaced by Zaptius going into Stage 3. The team once again finished 2-3 but this time lost out on the tiebreaker and began the Stage 3 Major in Losers Round 1. The Royal Ravens beat Paris Legion 3-1 and Minnesota RØKKR 3-0 but then lost to LA Thieves 0-3 in Losers Round 3 for a Top 8 finish. Another roster shuffle began Stage 4 as Zaptius left to join Paris Legion, Zed moved to the bench, and Alexx and Afro both made their way back to the States and joined the starting lineup. London one just one series in Stage 4 and were then beaten by Seattle Surge at the Major 1-3 to finish last.

London Royal Ravens: Our Story |
---|
The London Royal Ravens represent England. Our Managing Director, Michael O’Dell (ODEE), is a veteran in the Esports world, with strong ties within London and the UK. In addition to ODEE’s representation, every region of the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and Ireland is represented through our players and entire coaching staff.
Our home region is known for their pride and their extreme enthusiasm for the Call of Duty game franchise and the esports industry. When they cheer for the home team, we know they will be proud. Our team is hungry, passionate, and scrappy. We look forward to bringing the Call of Duty League Championship title home. The idea behind our name, the London Royal Ravens, stems from the legend of the Tower Ravens. It has been said that the Kingdom and the Tower of London will fall if the six resident ravens ever leave the fortress. We have seven ravens at the Tower today – the required six and one to spare. Additionally, Charles II is thought to have been the first to insist that the ravens of the Tower be protected after he was warned that the Tower and, thus, the crown itself would fall if they left. Our team represents the guardians of London and we look forward to them protecting their crown. |
