CDL Chicago roster from NRG

Chicago Huntsmen was the official Call of Duty League franchise team of Chicago, United States. It was owned and operated by NRG. The team rebranded to OpTic Chicago on November 11, 2020.

History[]

Modern Warfare[]

The team was announced as a franchise on September 13, 2019. Two days later, H3CZ joined from OpTic Gaming as CEO of the team. On October 24, the full starting roster of Scump, FormaL, Arcitys, Envoy and Gunless was revealed at the end of THE FINAL GOODBYE by NRG Esports. On October 31, the team branding was revealed as the Chicago Huntsmen. x2Pac ThuGLorD joined as an analyst on December 5 and General joined as a substitute the next day. On December 9, Sender joined as head coach. MBoZe joined as he second substitute on December 24. Sender was listed as a substitute on the Call of Duty League website on January 13, 2020.

The team started off the season with a 2-0 record at the Launch Weekend after defeating Dallas Empire, the team who had dominated most online tournaments, and OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, H3CZ and Scump's former team. In Week 2, the Huntsmen became the first ever Call of Duty League tournament winners by beating Dallas Empire at London and finishing the event with a 12-3 map count. Going into Week 3, the Huntsmen were poised to face off against home series host Atlanta FaZe in the finals to claim their stake as the top team in the league. Unfortunately, the Florida Mutineers has other plans as they defeated Chicago 3-2 in the semifinals. After an extended break due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, Chicago returned in Week 5. After taking down Paris Legion and Minnesota RØKKR in the group stage, they once again lost to the Florida Mutineers in the semifinals, this time 3-1. In the weeks leading up to their home series in Week 6, rumors and some player interviews revealed that the team had some internal problems. New York Subliners took down the Hunstman, in the first match but the Huntsman were able to recover with wins against London Royal Ravens and then the New York Subliners in the qualifier match. Dallas Empire had their number, however, in the semifinals as they were defeated 3-0.

After what the team called "chemistry issues", Gunless was benched on May 4, with substitute General joining the starting lineup for the next two weeks. Prestinni, who had recovered from his anxiety driven self-benching with Florida, reunited with his brother Arcitys and officially joined on May 18, four days before Week 8. Either good "vibes" or Dallas and Atlanta not attending allowed the Huntsmen to win the tournament, dropping only three maps the whole event. In Week 9, the honeymoon phase ended as Huntsmen failed to advance out of the group stage for the first time all season after losing 2-3 Florida, beating Toronto 3-0, and then losing 2-3 to LA Guerrillas. In Week 1, the Huntsmen won both of their group stage matches to face off against Atlanta FaZe for the first time in the semifinals, they won handily 3-0 but were then beaten by home series hosts New York Subliners in the grand final. In the final week of the season, the Huntsmen failed to make the bracket stage for the second time in three weeks as the lost to Toronto Ultra and OpTic Gaming Los Angeles in both qualifier matches. They finish the season in 4th place with 230 CDL Points.

Chicago started the Call of Duty League Championship 2020 in Winners Round 2 where they beat New York Subliners 3-2. The Huntsmen then lost to Atlanta FaZe 3-2. In losers, they beat OpTic Gaming Los Angeles 3-2 in one of the best series of the season, then eliminated London Royal Ravens 3-1 before losing to Atlanta FaZe in the Losers Final. They finished the event in third place.

Black Ops Cold War[]

Gunless was released on September 7 with Prestinni, Arcitys, and analyst X2Pac ThuGLorD all following the next day. The lineup was confirmed for the new season with Scump, Envoy, FormaL and Dashy, who joined the team on September 14. The team rebranded to Chicago OpTic on November 11, 2020.

Chicago Huntsmen: Our Story
We are the Huntsmen. We are Chicago.

We’ve always been on the hunt for glory, but to make it, we’ve had to out hustle everyone. No rest, no days off, always another mountain to climb.

Like the land we come from, we are ready for anything; rain, wind, sun or snow we’ve been through it all and have the scars to prove it. The Huntsmen are more than just the biggest names in the game. The Huntsmen are tenacious. The Huntsmen are champions.

Life will give you just enough to be comfortable. We’re never comfortable, because to achieve greatness you must become the Huntsmen, not the hunted.
