Biography

Halo

Getting his start on the PlayStation One, Apathy gained his reigns to the basics of gaming by replaying single player games over and over. It was when he heard about the Halo series; particularly Halo 3, which his interest for multiplayer games grew and he quickly found a way to get his hands on an Xbox 360 and the Halo 3 title. Playing competitive Halo for about two years, Apathy decided that he needed to make a change if he was going to continue to grow in his competitive gaming career. He saw this change with the Call of Duty chain, beginning with the MW2 title.

Black Ops and Black Ops 2

Apathy began to gain recognition during the Call of Duty: Black Ops season. While on Fly Society, Apathy achieved his first Top 10 placing, finishing 9th at MLG Columbus. Bryan then achieved his highest placing of the season while on apeX.Collapse, finishing 2nd at MLG Raleigh. He struggled during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Season, playing on Quantic LeveraGe, Xtravagant, Twisted Method, and Team Curse. Apathy's highest placing during the BO2 season was 8th at UMG Chicago with Twisted Method.

Ghosts

Apathy really began to shine in Call of Duty: Ghosts, while on Strictly Business. Finishing 8th at the MLG Spring Championship. Bryan, along with Censor, Dedo, and Saints, were one of the few teams to beat the juggernaut Complexity squad, finishing 1st at the Call of Duty Championship 2014: US Regional Final. After a 4th place finish at the Call of Duty Championship, Apathy left Strictly Business to join Team Kaliber. He did not attend UGC Niagara, but did compete at the MLG X Games Invitational. His play sent Team Kaliber into the championship match with OpTic Gaming. They fell just short, losing Game 5 Search and Destroy on Sovereign 6-4, becoming the first Call of Duty Silver Medalists. Team Kaliber narrowly made the Championship Bracket for the MLG Championship Anaheim, by finishing in 8th place in the MLG CoD League Season 2. However, the team came short, placing 7th/8th at the tournament. Apathy chose to leave tK, and join Censor, Dedo, and Parasite on FaZe Clan. This team faired well, earning 1st place at UMG Nashville 2014.

Advanced Warfare

Still under FaZe, now playing with ACHES, SlasheR and Censor, the team won the first major of the season, MLG Columbus Open 2014. Playing through losers bracket, they beat out a very strong OpTic Gaming squad in the grand finals by winning two best of 5 series. However after a poor performance at UMG Orlando 2015, Apathy moved around a number of different teams, including Team JusTus, Prophecy NA and Rise Nation but struggled to find consistent success. Under FaZe Black, with teammates Censor, ProoFy and StuDyy, Apathy placed 13th-16th at Call of Duty Championship 2015.

Apathy revealed in 2018, after winning his second world championship, that he had considered retiring from competitive Call of Duty at the end of the Advanced Warfare season.[33] After successive top 12 placings with Rise Nation, and then a top 16 at the MLG World Finals 2015 with Team Kaliber, Apathy says he "was broke and at the brink of quitting".

Black Ops 3

The Black Ops 3 season was Apathy's most successful thus far. However, it started poorly - now teaming with Enigma6 Gold with long time teammate Censor, as well as Dedo and Saints, the team failed to qualify for the 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Regular Season. Apathy, along with StuDyy then moved to Team Liquid to join Burnsoff and MerK. The outlook looked bright for this squad after 3rd-4th at their first event as a team (UMG South Carolina 2016 Champion Tournament). The team then attended the 2016 NA CWL Stage 1 Relegation through qualifying online. The team faced h2k-Gaming and were 3-0 up before being reverse swept, and therefore not qualifying for 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Regular Season. Following MerK's retirement, Team Liquid released the roster. However, Apathy's talent had been recognised, and he was seen as a top SMG player. Consequently, he and John were both picked up by Team EnVyUs, to replace ACHES and TeePee, for the rest of the Black Ops 3 season, and this team was to see a lot of success. Despite a slow start, finishing 7-8th at MLG Anaheim Open 2016, the team found consistency, coming 1st in both the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Regular Season (although this was only due to OpTic Gaming forfeiting 4 series due to CWL rulings and suspensions), and the 2016 NA CWL Stage 2 Playoffs, which netted Apathy his largest cash prize ($16,500) since 2014 champs. At MLG Orlando Open 2016, the final event before champs, the team finished 2nd to OpTic Gaming.

Team EnVyUs were placed in Group G with fellow NA team Cloud 9, EU squad Team Vitality and the Australian arm of Orbit - Team Orbit ANZ. Apathy and his team won the group finishing 3-0 series count, and 9-3 map count. Due to OpTic finishing 2nd in group H, the teams met in winner's bracket round 1. nV took the match 3-1, winning the final map (Fringe CTF) 1-0, after Karma made a notoriously questionable play with a dart, taking him out of the action while SlasheR made the only flag cap of the game. In winner's bracket round 2, Apathy and nV faced FaZe, and won the series convincingly 3-0, scoring 18 points to 8 in the Uplink on Evac. In the 3rd round of winners, they came up against the surprise package of the tournament, FAB Games eSports, in what was a closer contest than the FaZe match. nV won the Hardpoint and Uplink comfortably, but dropped the Search and Destroy 5-6. However they closed out to win the series 3-1 in the end, winning the Game 4 CTF 3-2, after John secured the match with a capture with only 22 seconds remaining. Apathy got both the other caps for the team. They now faced Elevate in winners finals. nV took the first map comfortably, winning Evac Hardpoint 250-100, notably all players on the team had over 1 minute in the Hardpoint. Elevate won the Search and Destroy and the Uplink though, leaving Apathy and his team fighting for their tournament life. Apathy and John performed very well on Stronghold CTF, going 26-13 and 24-13 (k/d) respectively, and Apathy secured 2 captures for his team. With the series now tied 2-2 going into Infection Search and Destroy, Apathy once again performed strongly finish with 10 kills and only 3 deaths, leading his team to a 6-2 victory against a team renowned for Search and Destroy. Now in Grand Finals, they faced EU team Splyce. Surprisingly, nV lost the hardpoint, a mode they had only lost twice previously in the tournament. However they won the next 3 maps with reasonable ease, and won the series 3-1, crowning them Champions for 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship.

Infinite Warfare

Due to Apathy's marriage and JKap's and SlasheR's school commitments, the team were less practiced than normal and placed uncharacteristically poorly at the first event of the season 2017 CWL Las Vegas Open, finishing in 9-12th place. As a result of this, and poor placing's in the the online MLG GameBattles 2K Series tournaments, nV's place in pools at the next event, 2017 CWL Atlanta Open was far from secure. However, winning a 2k tournament, the team just managed to have enough pro points to make pool play. They played well at the event, but fell just short, finishing 3rd. The team then flew to Paris to compete at the 2017 CWL Paris Open. Surprisingly, the team finished as poorly as they had done back in Vegas, placing 9-12th, following back to back 3-0 losses to OpTic Gaming and Splyce. The team practiced heavily after the event, knowing that their placing in Paris was well below their expected standard, and placed top 4 at both of the subsequent online 2K series. The next event for the squad was the Dallas Open, and the team did fair slightly better. Losses in pool play to OpTic, and the surprisingly strong GosuCrew who came from the Open Bracket, meant EnVy had to play through losers bracket. The team made an admirable run, beating SetToDestroyX, Cloud 9 and Luminosity, before eventually being beaten in a map 5 by eventual runners up eUnited, placing EnVy in 5-6th for the event.

Despite their relatively poor placings at the first 4 events, EnVy were still high enough in the pro points rankings to qualify as the 5th seed for the 2017 CWL Global Pro League Stage 1. EnVy were placed into group red with the top EU team Splyce, the top APAC team Mindfreak, as well as fellow NA Squad Cloud 9. For their final match against Splyce, EnVy would have to win the match 3-0 to top the group. EnVy surprised many to do just that, winning the Hardpoint and Search and Destroy narrowly, before completing the clean sweep in a more comfortable Uplink. Apathy had an incredible performance particularly in the Uplink, with 35 kills, and was suggested by many to be the best player over the weekend. The team failed to perform at the Stage 1 Playoffs however, losing in their winners round one match to Luminosity, and then eliminated by OpTic Gaming, placing 7/8th.

What came next was a shock for the EnVy roster, as they flew to compete at CWL Anaheim, where they placed top 24 - the organization's lowest ever at a major event. After finishing dead last in there pool with an 0-3 loss to open bracket team Rogue, and were immediately beaten in the losers bracket by Allegiance. Many thought that a roster change would be on the cards, but the team were unable to secure a move, and so would play out the remainder of the IW season. The team boot camped together, with both Stage 2 Playoffs and Champs coming up, there was still millions to play for.

In a remarkable turn around, the team stormed through the stage 2 playoffs, making it to grand finals through the winners bracket. A very hot OpTic Gaming met them in the final, and Envy simply ran out of momentum, losing two best of five series, and placing 2nd. With the World Championship up next though, it had given the roster new found optimism. Envy topped their group, and made another remarkable winners bracket run, including what is considered one of the greatest comebacks in Call of Duty history - coming back from 0-10 down in Uplink against eUnited, to win 11-10 in the last moments. Once again they reached the grand final, once again would face OpTic Gaming, and once again OpTic would have to win two best of 5 series. With the chance to be the first roster to win back to back world championships, and for JKap to get his third ring, the team came up short. OpTic were the better team over both best of fives, winning 3-1 and 3-0.

Following the crushing defeat, the Envy roster announced they would be splitting, with only SlasheR remaining with the org. Apathy announced a few weeks later, just ahead of the release of CoD: WWII, that he would be joining Evil Geniuses, alongside ACHES, Enable and NAMELESS.

WWII

Apathy and the new Evil Geniuses roster began the WWII season in decent form, placing consistently inside the top 16 in the weekly online CWL 2K tournaments - enough to earn them a spot in pool play for the first event of the season, CWL Dallas. EG performed fairly well in their pool, beating Splyce and Ghost Gaming, but losses to FaZe Clan and eUnited meant they would play through the losers bracket. Early on the Saturday, the team played their first losers bracket match against Australian team Mindfreak, and lost were reverse swept in a shock 2-3 defeat.

Now in a bad position in pro points, the team needed to out place other teams on the cusp of qualification for Stage 1 of the Pro League at the upcoming CWL New Orleans. Evil Geniuses made a miraculous run through the open bracket, making it into pool play where they finished 2nd. They fell in the winners bracket, but needed only one win in losers, against DooM Clan, to secure their place at the league. They defeated DooM 3-1, meaning they narrowly qualified. The team which just missed out, Enigma6, claimed that Evil Geniuses had "stolen" their league spot, by getting pro points from fake GameBattles matches.[34] Enigma6 player, and former teammate of Apathy, Censor, had been deducted pro points, and felt EG should be also. Nothing came of the accusations and EG played in the league.

Evil Geniuses began fairly well in the Pro League, but on the very last week, lost every one of their remaining matches, and bombed out in to 7th spot in the division, and being relegated. During this time the team also attended CWL Atlanta and CWL Birmingham, where they placed 7-8th and 17-20th respectively. With such poor placings, and relegation from the Pro League, many believed a roster change was on the horizon.
